Beware of Scam & Cyberbegging on Instagram in Singapore

The Instagram scene in Singapore is booming, not just as part of the ‘sharing society’, businesses but also online scammers have been on the rise.

A Photographer by the name of Colin, introduced himself as part of Timeless Romance Instagram Account.  His account has also stated he won multiple award such as WPPI, WPJA, AGWPJA, ISPWP, FEARLESS, MPA. If you search on google, you may find out he did the Wedding Photoshoot for Singapore's celebrity DJs Glenn Ong and Jean Danker with Bobby Kiran Photography. We're not completely certain why he did Cyberbegging with strangers on Instagram.

Netizen Ling reported Photographer Colin messaged her in her work account on Instagram inbox in the month of February. He explains that his dad is in the hospital requires immediate surgery due to his colon cancer and he have exhausted his savings. He also mentioned he had tried many of his friends and contacts.
Photographer Colin even sent his NRIC photo which makes Netizen Ling thinks that his account may be hacked. Netizen Ling decided to block him as she finds it suspicious. Given how fast scams are evolving, it is nearly impossible to have a foolproof safeguard. It is important however, to always pay attention and be aware of what you're really paying.

Two month later, Netizen Ling received message from Photographer Colin again on her personal Instagram account with the same introduction. She decides to test out the conversation.
Perhaps Photographer Colin didn't put enough effort into his homework. He then blocked Netizen Ling after the last sentence of the conversation. As you may be dealing with strangers or your so called social media "friends", "fans" or "followers", avoid unnecessary payment or suspicious lies or scam. Don't trust everything you see or hear.

In this case, we hope Photographer Colin earns enough to pay for his own lifestyle. It's better than doing cyberbegging in any ways.

Since 2017, scammers cunningly laid vicious traps everywhere and snapped up $157 million, causing immense pain and huge financial losses to victims and their families. It's time to say enough is enough, and take the fight to these scheming enemies. To fight this war against scams, the community needs to unite as one. And only by rallying together, can we stop more from getting hurt.
